Montreal: St. Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal

The Basilica's majestic organ is ranked among the ten most prestigious organs in the world.

  1. The archdiocese of Ottawa is organizing a one-day pilgrimage to the oratory on the feast of St. Joseph, if anyone is interested.

  2. Wow, look at all that snow!

The last time I was at St. Joseph's Oratory was in the fall of 1994. Loved it!

I had a dear friend, a Franciscan priest who was an organist. He was stationed at a parish in St-Bruno, on the other bank of the St. Lawrence River opposite Montreal. On Sundays when there were organ recitals he would take interested parishioners to the Oratory to hear them. He told me this himself.

He's been dead since 1990, and I miss him still.....

  3. These photos were taken on the day it snowed as Montreal hasn't had that much snow this winter. Was almost melted until the 17cm received last week. The bottom photo taken as a view from Queen Mary Road. I pass this every day en route to work. Looks lovely in winter, beautiful in autumn when the trees change, amazing in spring and summertime with the gardens planted. Great photographs... have you seen when the dome is completely engulfed in fog in the spring? I have, very erie looking.
