When the Pope Goes to Sleep

If you have been to St. Peter's Square at night you have looked up and seen the Pope's lights on as you see here - always these two lit windows.  This is a tradition which has been maintained for decades.

This photo was taken yesterday night (Dec. 14) just after 11 p.m.  Then at 11:19 p.m. the Pope's light went out as he went to sleep.  His light usually goes off around 11 p.m.  It's fun to watch it go off.  Meanwhile, the light to the left where the two secretaries labor remains on for some time longer.  One can be in St. Peter's Square until 11 p.m. when they clear everybody out.

  1. I wonder if that is his bedroom or just living room or something?
