I witnessed the most awkward arrrangement for the celebration of holy mass some years ago in this church. A forward facing altar to the far left of the church. The priests as it was concelebration seemed hindered by very limited space. The effect appeared make shift and not in keeping for an historically significant. Why the main altar and sanctuary was not used baffled me.
Renovated again? Hopefully this time they'll get it correct, and un-Vatican II what they Vatican II'd 40 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe last renovation was sometime in the '50s??
ReplyDeleteI was last in Rome in September of 2008 and the building was being renovated then. A long drawn out process or a renovation of the renovation?
ReplyDeleteI have low hopes for any kind of meta-vatican II renovation.
