A Day in the Life of a Rome Tour Guide

Today yours truly gave a tour to a man who was last in Rome in 1969.

But before that he was in Rome for Easter 1952 as an American serviceman stationed in Germany.  It was then that he and his group was granted a private audience with the Pope, Pius XII.

This man spoke in awe of the moment he had the audience and of seeing Pius XII also in St. Peter's Square on that Easter Sunday.  He agreed that Pius XII was innocent.

Then as we made a stop at the tomb of John Paul II we noticed standing there in deep and painful meditation the old friend of John Paul II from Cracow,  Franciszek Macharski  ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franciszek_Macharski ).  It was a special moment to see him there and to see his profound grief even 4.5 years after the death of the Pontiff.

Let us pray.
