In the 1930s almost 7,000 priests, sisters and religious were killed in Spain by the socialist reds.

"No one can be at the same time
a sincere Catholic and a true socialist."

  2. The guys who did this, and killed so many Bishops, priests, religious and faithful laity in the Spanish Civil War, were a nasty bunch!

Who can ever forget the infamous photo of a firing squad 'executing' the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at the Cerro de los Angeles?

    Evil, just evil.....

  3. As much as we Catholics detest the atrocities of the Popular Front and their leftist allies, let us not exalt the bloody and atrocious legacy of Francisco Franco and the Falange either. The tragedy of the Spanish Civil War scars all, clergymen, Catholics, leftists and normal Spaniards alike.

  4. If any of you have any doubts about capitalism economy and catholicism a look at "Christians for freedom: Late-scholastic Economics" by Alejandro A. Chafuen, Ignatius press 1986; the very eloquent Jesús Huerta de Soto in "new light on the prehistory of the theory of banking and the school of Salamanca" his lectures on the politics of economics are must see. His lecture on "scientist, christian-solidarian and trade union socialism" is well worth watching (if you can understand spanish) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8D4M1DdyXVw&feature=related

  5. well, if there is one thing one can say about the greater part of the executionsunder Franco, most of them after the war, is that there was method and documentation about them. That is more than one can say of the leftist thugs.
