Chiesa Nuova, Rome.

  1. If this is the body of St. Filipo Neri, it looks as if his face might have decomposed alittle (thus the mask), but that his hands are entirely intact.

Such a wonderful Saint! Another fruit of the magnificent reforms of the Council of Trent.

the Council of Trent and its liturgy (Tridentine Mass) gave birth to a tremendous flowering of Catholic religious life in religious Orders, new Orders and institutes, not to mention in the average life of ordinary Catholics. In the arts too (music, painting, architecture, sculpture). And gave us an army of new magnificent Saints... from Saint Filipo Neri, all the way up to Saint Padre Pio of Pietralcina.

Vatican II, on the other hand, produced just the opposite type of fruits....a complete collapse of the Church, dying religious Orders, empty monasteries, convents, seminaries....and a MASSIVE turnaway from the Faith by hundreds of millions of Catholics. And of course...Vatican II will produce no Saints.

It really makes one wonder. One Council (Trent), obviously was the work and inspiration of the Holy Spirit and all of Heaven.

Vatican II on the other hand could never in a milion years lay claim to that.

  2. Don't mistake Vatican II for the Cultural Revolution which came after.

  3. I simply wish the Holy Father would write an Encylical or something that sets Vatican II in its' proper perspective once and for all. If not then it should just be suppressed, but all the ambiguous documents and interpretations must be cast aside. This would be his greatest gift to the Church. How often does anyone speak of Vatican II and Trent in a harmonious sentence? The are always used as diametrically opposed to each other. It needs to end.
