What the Chimney in the Sistine Chapel Looks Like

As a tour guide in the Vatican clients would often ask me: "Where in the Sistine Chapel is the chimney for the white and black smoke when a new pope is elected?"

Well, here's the answer. But truth be told, many tour guides are at a loss to answer this question.

In any event, the "chimney", as seen here, is only put in place at the rear of the chapel during the Sede Vacante (time after the death or resignation of a pope) and then taken down just after the election of a new pope.
