Homeless in the neighborhood of the Vatican. Many are Polish; homeless who came to Rome during the Polish pontificate and remained. Many of the Poles are often seen intoxicated, too. The number one rule in soup kitchens and hostels for homeless is that they are not allowed admittance if they are drunk. Each evening about 20 are fed here. Many are
itinerant. They come and go. Pray for them.
In Spain, despite not receiving financial support fromo the government, Caritas (the church charity entity) feeds and supports 1 million people because of the crisis. When the really tough times arrive it is in the Catholic Church and not in the money thirsty NGO's, where the needy seek refuge. Never before, since democracy came back in 1975, has the persecution of catholicism been so tough as it is nowadays. As it is said around here "ladran, luego cabalgamos"(" ... they're barking, thus we are riding on")
