Yours truly just took this photo of a wedding in Italy.
These days, many brides, even in Italy, no longer wear the veil.
Sad.
Two thoughts:
It is not okay to dress this way when you receive a sacrament.
Secondly, why have we done away with the veil and why are we too awash to see what a loss it is?
Plus, she is wearing bare shoulders that belong to a cocktail party or southern punch party, but not in the church. It is not a place to show off
ReplyDeleteWe can moan and groan all we want but until the clergy starting with the Pope on down start doing their jobs the war is lost.
ReplyDeleteHmm...the bride seems to be just a bit too eager for the Wedding Night. The groom seems not too sure.
ReplyDeleteKitsch!
ReplyDeleteI don't mind the lack of a veil but the naked shoulders have got to go. Still until the bishops stand up and say ladies be fully dressed when you come to church this will go on.
ReplyDeleteI am suprised that this is allowed in Rome. In New Orleans, most if not all Catholic churches require the shoulders to be covered.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have covered shoulders and flowers in the hair than these awful modern wedding dresses that make the bride look as if she's wrapped in a towel.
