Roman Style Cope

Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.

Today, many of our Latin rite clergy are liturgical neanderthals - just ask any one of them what a Roman style cope is and you will see that many (most?) have no idea what the cavallo (heck) you (a layman) are talking about.

  1. Is that a Roman-style tonsure as well, or is it just a "natural" tonsure?

  2. Don't worry, JP - the Ordinariate will mean an infusion of those who are liturgically nuanced...

  3. I'm intrigued regarding the albs of the two deacons on either side of the priest. Are they albs (albethem very short ones) or simply surplices? It seems as though both are wearing amices, so it would seem that they are albs. Yet the lace showing is neither demonstrative of either an alb or of a surplice.

  4. Yes, they are surplices each with an amice.
