EWTN

Support them with everything you have.

One of the most positive contributions in recent years has been the Eternal Word Television Network.

In the 1980s our family was one of the first houses on the block with cable TV so as to watch EWTN.

Yours truly grew up in the late 1980s watching Mother Angelica Live, Fr. George Rutler in his flowing cassock, and the Pope's weekly general audience every Wednesday from the Vatican.  Mother spoke in a language that we understood.

Mother Angelica is still living today, now in her 90s.  Still doing God's work.  Still spreading the Eternal Word.  She often sleeps.  Holy Mass is celebrated in her room each week.  She still recognizes people.  She is unable to walk and has difficulty speaking, the effects of a stroke.

It all began in 1981 when Mother Angelica, "Doing the ridiculous so that God could do the miraculous," made a leap of faith and transformed her Poor Clare monastery garage into a TV studio, in Birmingham, Alabama.  In 1992 we drove down to see her.  It was a profound moment in my life to see what she had created.

These humble beginnings only 30 years ago have grown into the largest Catholic media network on the planet earth, reaching more than 230 million homes in 140 countries worldwide.

EWTN now offers 11 TV networks throughout the world, making ETWN programming easily available through your cable, satellite, or telephone and broadband provider.  Use EWTN's channelfinder at ewtn.com to find out where you can watch EWTN and which companies provide DVR programming.  The ewtn.com website is the second most visited Catholic website in the world, second only to the Vatican.

Our proudest moment was when in 1993, during the World Youth Day in Denver, when Mother made the quick decision to go on-air and announce that the sisters would be going back to their original habit.  It was a proud and beautiful moment.  And then came the new Our Lady of the Angels Monastery with Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.

Mother Angelica is a saint.  Be silent and listen.  Saints abound and this is the work of a saint.

Support EWTN and continue to help it ever press forward in the lead and service of the Gospel.
