He was the first future pope to visit the USA.  He flew over the ranch area of Thomas Aquinas College on his UA flight from San Fran to LA. 

Papal Foot Warmer of Pope Benedict XVI

A rare sight.  A foot warmer that was also used as a footrest during the traditional ceremony when visitors would kneel to kiss the sacred slipper.   BXV was dogged by poor health and when he got the "chills," this is how he warmed his feet.

Adorable.  I wish they still made these.  My sisters had a couple of them when they were kids.
