"Church politics is the worst kind of politics. If the Church wants this country to change it must first teach its own people not to engage in the worst kind of juvenile power plays."

Feast of St. Blaise in Rome
If you every find yourself in Rome on the morning of a February 3rd (S. Biagius), visit this church of San Biagio (Rito Armeno) on the Via Giulia for your throat to be blessed in the Armenian rite. Kneel and feel the power of the Holy Ghost; then rise, eat some bread, leave a little donation and go in peace.

Rome Traditions: Papal Portrait Above Main Entrance
In the Vatican you still often see a crucifix and papal portrait in every room.
In Rome churches you still sometimes see a portrait of the reigning pontiff near each main entrance.
Pastors, at least have in your sacristy a nice framed portrait of the Pope. Give employment to local artists and have one commissioned.

IN·PIAM·MEMORIAM: ELIZABETH
Prayer request for the soul of the sweet mother of a very dear friend of ours who passed away today.
She gave birth to the only true genius I have ever come to know.
And she was a reader of this blog: may her memory be eternal!

From Naples: Santa Maria della Redenzione dei Captivi
Inside this same church St. Alphonsus de Liguori made his vow to embrace the priesthood.
It's a nice little church founded in 1548 to help redeem Christians captured by Muslims.
