Greatest Hero of the Cold War: Fr. Walter Ciszek, S.J.

Just imagine: he was 23 years in Soviet prisons and Siberian labor camps, and he lived to tell about it.

He wrote two books:

With God in Russia in 1964 (republished by Ignatius Press).

He Leadeth Me  in 1973 (republished by Ignatius Press).

If you can, please at least read He Leadeth Me; it will change your life forever.

I have read both and been to Russia twice.  These books tell a story, a true story.  A story that still needs to be heard.  This U.S. born priest ought to be raised to the altars and canonized saint.  Please pray, God willing, for this blessed intention.

  1. Powerful books!
I think of Fr. Ciczek and all those who suffered under such oppression when I see the gathering storm clouds around us.
    Excellent post!
