Born During the Reign of Leo XIII: She Lived Through the Entire XXth Century

The world's oldest woman has died in Los Angeles.

Gertrude Barnes was born in 1894 (when  Grover Cleveland was U.S. President and Leo XIII was Pope).

She passed away at the age of 115 at a Los Angeles hospital on Friday morning, September 11.

She was a former maid who lived through two world wars, the rise and fall of communism and the entire twentieth century and she even outlived all her relatives.

Born in Georgia in 1894
Died in California in 2009
