Rome.
The sacred and holy, oecumenical and general II Synod of the Vatican did not instruct us to tear out our Communion rails in Latin rite churches.
And it did not instruct us to take the bits and pieces left to put together another redundant altar to trump the historic main altar.
Not as hideous as some of the photos of modern altars you have posted. Some have looked like something right out of a dime-a-dozen Protestant Church. But this altar (although the main altar behind it is far better), is not ugly. With the proper six candlesticks and cross on it, it could look very Catholic.
ReplyDeleteIt's not great....but not horrible like some others I've seen.
I agree. This is a very nice alter. I especially like the trinitarian cross (which is the religious order I belong to) at the center.
ReplyDeleteAn altar made from bits of a torn out communion rail is a sad day.
ReplyDeleteJust as bad as tearing down the communion rail and using it to make the Bishop's cathedra like they did at my parish!!!
ReplyDeleteYou all are such Traditionalist. There are many ways to Celebrate mass. Its not wrong or right, its just Different from your own style of Worship. (This is the trinitarian Brother who made the previous comment) I see nothing wrong with this alter. Any Alter where mass is said is holy!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRedundant altar?
