San Giovanni Rotondo: Padre Pio Vestments

Over the years Padre Pio wore many different vestments. Would be nice to see some of them still used today by the friars at San Giovanni Rotondo.

  1. Why did Padre Pio wear a rochet...does anyone know about this? Great saint. ora pro nobis

  2. Question: Why did P. Pio wear red cuffs? as far as I know he was a religious priest and could not have accepted any "honors" such as a monsignor title... any ideas?

  3. Why do some of Padre Pio's albs have red under the lace ends of the sleeve? I thought that was reserved to prelates, abbots, bishops and such.
    Does anybody know?

  4. John, could you examine these questions as we are all asking the same thing.
Why does St Padre Pio wear at rochet?

  5. It's not a rochet, it's an alb. Red cuffs is an Italian thing and doesn't indicate rank.
