Rome's Peacocks

These are the two male peacocks who sleep atop the ruins of Nero's old aquaduct atop the Caelian Hill in the gardens of the Passionist General House. Only the males have the lovely plumage which is shed each autumn.

  1. male peacock is redundant. a peacock IS the male, with the peahen being the female. beautiful picture. great website.

  2. I didn't know there were peacocks roosting in the ruins of ancient Rome! Stray cats, yeah; but not peacocks! Pretty cool picture, though!
