Ottawa: What Canadian Catholic Architecture Looks Like

Eclectic Victorian style that combines a Gothic revival form with Italian Renaissance detail. Simply beautiful; this church is a gem of Ottawa.

The architect was a local, Mr. John R. Bowes. The Irish constructed this limestone beauty in 1890, just down the street from the Cathedral.

This steeple is seen by all from the city's main attraction, second only to Parliament, the popular Byward Market.

A pity the parish was later sold and is now St. Brigid's Centre for the Arts, operated by the National Irish Canadian Cultural Centre.

Make this your intention: that this property will return to the purpose it was consecrated for to the glory of the God and the sanctification and salvation of men.
