FSSP in MONTREAL: Church of Saint-Irénée
An honor to worship here with this fabulous community in one of the most beautiful cities in the world - the "city of a thousand church steeples."
Montreal is the second-largest city in Canada and the largest city in the province of Quebec. Quebec, the crown jewel of the Catholic Faith on the North American continent, has really taken a beating in recent years.
Locals blame the "quiet" revolution" which they complain began in 1960.
Lux lucet in tenebris? Indeed, yes. And such a parish provides a rallying ground for scattered and disorganized forces of orthodoxy and a firm basis of dogma and discipline from which a new advance can be taken.

Today once the faith was rejected, it turned out in the society that reason has become relativist. Nihilist. There is a doubt whether the reason can know. And many French fell into the trap and they said well we don't know anything. You have your opinions, I have my opinions. And truth cannot be known. And if you fall into this trap of thinking that truth cannot be known even outside faith in the realm of reason, how can we make decisions about our life? If truth cannot be known? The Catholic Church looks at the truth that has been revealed, transmits the truth and tries to perceive its intelligibility. Viewing the functioning of reason in the light of faith reminds the reason that it is not to stop short. It is to go to the fulness of truth.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that the FSSP had a parish in Montreal! Interesting....what part of the city is this church located? And a beautiful one, BTW.
ReplyDeleteYes, I also blame the so-called 'Quiet Revolution' of the 1960s for the loss of the Catholic Faith in Quebec Province, once one of the most Catholic areas on earth.
