No, I do believe they are seminarians from the North American College. According to the 1900 Handbook to Christian and Ecclesiatical Rome by Tuker and Malleson and an old edition of Georgina Masson's classic Companion Guide to Rome, the German College seminarians wore a scarlet cassock, black sash, and scarlet soprana with pendant strings while seminarians from the North American College wore (and still wear to this day) a double-breasted black cassock, blue pipings and buttons, crimson sash, and soprana (piped in blue) with pendant strings.
How many of them ended up leaving the priesthood? The NAC is nothing special.
ReplyDeletethose guys are from the german college....

DeleteAnd each is wearing the soprana!
ReplyDeleteI know for a fact there are a few seminarians at the College that still wear the soprana on occasion.
