Rome Resort Town of Santa Marinella Honors Pius XII With New Statue

The artist is from Sicily and survived the war.  Here he holds the sketch he made of the new statue yet to be made by his hands at his studio near the Vatican.

The artist explains that it is his distinct "honor" to create this bronze statue in "sacred memory" of the pontificate of this "great pope of peace" and that the bronze statue once completed will last for a "thousand years."

The statue will be placed in a garden for all to see in the resort town of Santa Marinella, where the future pope once vacationed.
