BEATISSIMO IN CHRISTO PATRI BENEDICTO DECIMO SEXTO, PAPAE EMERITO,
SINCERA MELIORAQVE VOTA IN FESTO SANCTI BENEDICTI COENOBIARCHAE, PATRONI
NOMINIS EIVS TAMQVAM SVMMVM PONTIFICEM.
We terrible miss him, and so we miss the beautiful and dignified vestments and attire that he used tailored according to the standards of a Supreme Roman Pontiff.
So "poor and humble" are bad qualities in a pope? So what of Jesus' words "blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" and "blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth"? Wow, did you think the Cardinals would actually give us another Pius IX? Honestly, do you really think Francis intends to reverse anything Benedict XVI had done thus far? Not to put down the recent "reform of the reform" and a renewed attention to tradition, which I wholeheartedly support, by the way-- I can see that Francis' priorities lie elsewhere at this time. If by his reaching out to the poor and ordinary people strengthens people's faith worldwide, that's just fine. If people strive to become better Christians because of Francis' example, great! Now, as for the papal finery, which I do agree should not go away completely, I do hope Francis retains Msgr. Guido Marini as the papal mc; understands what a great job he's done thus far, and lets him continue.

ReplyDeleteSo much...
ReplyDeleteWhy yes, Pspa, I do!
ReplyDelete(I Love Francis, but miss Papa Benedict, as well).
OMG please come back!!!!! If I hear the words poor and humble one more time I'm jumping out the window.
ReplyDeleteThen might I suggest you don't read most of the Gospels. These are major themes for Jesus as well.
DeleteWE NEVER FORGET HOLY FATHER.YOU SHOW US THE TRUE FAITH, THE UNITY OF THE CHURCH AND THE SPLENDOUR OF THE LITURGY.
ReplyDeleteEveryday, especially as the visual signs of the office of the Pope disappear before our very eyes.
ReplyDeleteUna tenerezza infinita Benedetto XVI!

ReplyDeleteI have missed him every day, and will miss him for many days, months and perhaps years to come.
