John, I think your simple piety is obscuring what a disaster this man's election is. You should see it up close and first hand. At least moderate your enthusiasm before the storm breaks.
Mr. Sonnen, I too stand with our new Pope. The Holy Father, while still Cardinal Brogoglio, served in the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments. Clearly, Someone much more highly placed than me had thought he was no 'disaster' in that department.
The majority of Cardinal Electors of this most recent conclave were, I believe, given their red hats by our beloved Benedict XVI. Is it not safe to assume that Benedict XVI gave a great deal of thought to those mens' ability to make a sound decision when it came time to find his successor?
It baffles me that people who couldn't name the Cardinal Archbishop of Buenos Aires before last Wednesday now presume to know his agenda, his attitudes, his motives, even the state of his soul. I hope they moderate their pessimism.
