The Holy Father's celebration of the TLM will do wonders for its more universal availability. Why does he wait? Is it possible that the papal TLM is too extreme in its ritual papal that would be "off" in our modern view of things...surely he could alter it to his liking or celebrate a low mass...but the holy Father needs to be seen celebrating the mass. It has been said that he doesnt really approve it as he wont do it himself but simply made it available for others. I pray he celebrates it.
The least Pope Benedict XVI could do is attend a pontifical solemn high mass (TLM) in choro. All he would have to do is sit and stand while a bishop does the rest. This happened all the time before Paul VI. Cardinal Burke celebrated one recently in St. Peter's and His Holiness could easily have walked over. Pope Benedict didn't and doesn't and it is not because he is prevented from doing so. Schedules can be aligned. We need to accept realities and be grateful for the crumbs. The master plan is only to hybridize the OF with the EF according to Cardinal Burke, i.e. a hippie mass with lace and dalmatics. The next pontiff will not be as remotely nostalgic as this one.
Revive the pageantry of older days. One sees things with wonder, and there rises in the mind a vision of splendour, pageantry and symbolism that will never again be seen in the world unless we pray for a return. The last pale vestiges of such magnificence were the great ceremonies in St. Peter's and the coronations of the Kings and Queens of England.
