Cardinal Stickler was a wonderful man and a fantastic priest. He warned JP II about appointing the kind of people he did to Austria (Schonborn, the former bishop of Linz, and the Benedictine Cardinal who caused such a scandal for being gay (I forget his name). But ol' JP II went ahead and appointed the nutjob liberals anyway. He tried to appoint some conservatives too, but they turned out to have their own problems.
I don't think that St. John Bosco would be happy with his Salesians today...the priests, brothers, or the nuns.
