It seems that there are alot more habits, cassocks, cowls, nuns in full dress, and priest wearing the "1950's" style black saturnos than there used to be. If I remember right, only 10 years ago, you rarely saw priests in cassocks...at all.
Now it just seems to be the old guard radical nutjob priests, firars and especially nuns in their late 60's, 70's and 80's who cling to the layclothes, baggy clerical slacks and mismatched gray, white, or black shirts or jackets(they look like Protestant ministers).
But the young friars and nuns (45 and under) are bringing back visible color, devotion and faith to the streets of Rome. At least it looks that way. No where near the glory days of the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's....but at least better than the 1970's and 80's!!
It does look like the illustrious Canon. As a great Church-historian on women-religious in the U.S. maybe he's on his way to consult with the Holy Father regarding the visitation???
Yes, I do believe that is the Cannon A.K.A. JAP and sometimes by old classmates as "Boom Boom". You should see him now... no walking stick and many pounds lighter. His work/diligence in a Jersey Seashore parish must be agreeing with him.
