Today La Storta is a typical town near Rome: full of North African, Eastern European and Arab immigrants.
But many years ago it was one of the last stops before Rome on the ancient pilgrimage road known as the Via Francigena. Therefore, many Spanish and other European pilgrims passed through this village just before they arrived in Rome and enjoyed the Christian hospitality of the very generous inhabitants.
It was here that Christ met St. Ignatius and spoke to him in Latin: "Ego Vobis Romae Propitius Ero."
Now this lovely little chapel is here, constructed over the place of apparition.
