Telegram from Cardinal Pacelli

From the American Chesterton Society.

"The attached is a digital copy of the famous telegram sent by Cardinal Eugenio Pacelli (Pope Pius XII), on behalf of Pope Pius XI, consoling the English people following the death of our beloved GKC. The telegram was read at Chesterton's Requiem Mass, but the press refused to reprint its content. Who can tell us why?"

  1. Because, ironically, the press only recognized one Defender of the Faith, and it was no Catholic. Le plus ca change......

  2. Amazing. And yet not. Chesterton was so foolish and guileless that not only Popes and prime ministers but even children love him.
