I find it ridiculous that in the Lateran and Pauline Basilicas the papal throne is in the right place whereas from the time of JPII the papal throne in St. Peter's moves around like a lost sheep, everywhere except where it is supposed to be. St. Peter's was designed so that the papal throne before the Altar of the Chair was framed by Bernini's baldachin when entering the basilica. The cardinals and prelates were seated here during papal ceremonies. It has been a liturgical mess ever since.
