Canons Chapel of St. Peter's Basilica

To go where no tourist has gone. Very difficult to get in here. A lovely room, attached to the main sacristy of the Vatican Basilica.

  1. Mr. Sonnen, what can you tell us about the two gilt busts in the center
of the room? They appear to be of SS Peter and Paul, and they're
sitting on columns of what looks to be high-grade alabaster -- is it
    possible that they are reliquaries?

  2. Blessed Apostles Petrus and Paulus, yes, but no relics...as far as I can tell.

  3. Hi JP, was there an altar in the Canon's Chapel removed by Virgilio Noe or another? What was this altar? Where exactly is this chapel in relation to the High Altar of St Peter? Thanks nice post.
