From Naples: Franciscans of the Immaculate

This is an American member of the Franciscans of the Immaculate.

Today these friars are the finest Franciscans on the peninsula.

They are the ones on the streets.  In the trenches.  With the people.  Always with a smile.  Always teaching.

  3. They seem to favour the EF form of the Mass. Do you think there's a conection between that and their good works?

  4. THese are the best Franciscans in the world. Over 350 friars and growing.

The other 4 branches of the Franciscan family, not to mention dozens of Franciscan communities of sisters are still stuck in the spiritually bankrupt desert of the "Spirit of Vatican II". Hence their swift collapse, and the equally swift rise of the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate (who celebrate practically only the Tridentine Latin Mass), and a few other small Franciscan groups of friars who have a similar orientation.

I wouldn't hold much hope out for the "Franciscan Friars of the Renewal" however. They're too "Vatican II", and despite claims to being "orthodox", I don't think they even permit their members to celebrate the TLM. I may be wrong...but I don't think so.

What about those friars and sisters who struggle everyday to be faithful to their vows and suffer from misunderstanding and discouragement? Their reward is hidden in the Lord. Moreover, the glory of the Order belongs to them. They are the true bearers of the Franciscan tradition because they know what "perfect joy" truly means. Fidelity to the charism is achieved through blood, sweat and tears.

The poor one himself has said: "A time will come when the religion loved by God will have such a bad reputation because of bad examples that it will be embarrassing to go out in public. Whoever comes to enter the Order at that time will be led only by the working of the Holy Spirit; flesh and blood will put no blot on them; they will be truly blessed by the Lord." (Assisi Compilation, n.2)
