It will always be a public and visible institution.  

A city set atop a hill.  Always under siege, but never taken.

    I solace in this, but I also re-call that Hilaire Belloc said Europe was Catholic for convenience, not by divine necessity. I fear if/when He decides to pack up and move somewhere more hospitable....
