Listening to the Sistine Choir on the Nov. 27th Advent Vespers Ceremony at the Vatican, I have to say I was stunned by the transformation. Beautiful early Italian Renaissance hymns, Baroque hymns etc. None of the songs "made up for the occasion", the here today gone today liturgical trash that John Paul II, Piero Marini, and Msgr. Giuseppe Liberto (former Maestro of the Sistine Choir) were famous for. In barely 1 month, the Sistine choir has gone from the banal, boring, worthless Vatican II parish choir type, to climbing it's way back to being an example of liturgical beauty in song. It remains to be seen if they fall back to the contemporary Vatican II junk....but lets hope not. Bring back all the Catholic liturgical and musical classics, and junk the modern junk.

Could you cite some actual examples? The few times I've heard a Papal Mass celebrated by the Venerable Servant of God Pope John Paul the Great, the Sistine Chapel Choir sung Gregorian Chant. I even recall Mozart's Coronation Mass one Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul...
Later in his pontificate, after Marini I assumed control and JPII probably had very little to do with the later papal liturgies. Recall if you would the horrible African safari themed opening of the holy door in 2000. JPII would have never approved that when he firsr was elected.
