Bishop Since 1961: Nasrallah Pierre Cardinal Sfeir

His Beatitude has been a bishop for almost 50 years, since 1961.

A tremendous honor to reverence his ring.

He is 90 years old and is one of the last living Council Fathers.

Consecrated bishop in the Maronite rite, he speaks many languages and always has a smile.

Legends among us.  Saints among us.

  1. He is a wonderful man, and so is his Maronite Rite. But this:

"is one of the last living Council Fathers."

Has turned out to be nothing to be proud of.

  2. besides the lesser title of cardinal, he is more importantly, a patriarch, Father and Head of a Catholic Church in union with Rome.

  3. I knew someone would have another ludicrous anti-Vatican II comment. It was only a matter of time.

  4. In Hermosillo, Sonora, México, we have our emeritus archbishop, who is a council father too, D. Carlos Quintero Arce, emeritus archibishop of Hermosillo. A graet man, holy ann faithfull in many matters. I think that in México is there another Council Father, Mons. Arturo Szymanski, emeritus bishop of San Luis Potosi.

  5. As a Maronite, Im very happy to see our Patriarch given such attention on this kind of website. It lets Catholics of all rites, but especially those of the Roman rite that the Church is truly "Catholic", that the faith knows no one culture, time or place-but is for all.

God bless Patriarch Nasrallah Peter Boutros Sfeir, a true defender of the faith, a shining light of the Maronites and of the Church!
