...and thus to un-sully the name "Bruno!"

What and deprive the English College students of their annual bit of fun?
There is a book called "Giordano Bruno and the Hermetic Tradition" which is a history book by Frances Yates in which she, the author, explained historically that Giordano was condemned not because of science but because of the heresy and superstitions that he was spreading.
Most of the scientific views that he held have since been embraced by the Catholic Church as a whole in one form or another.
It would have been nicer if he'd never been burned; churches and political power should be kept apart.
