E 'una tragedia. It is very sad when the clear vision of a skilled architect is trashed in order to bring about a silly, therapeutic "space" that ignores dogmatic theology, a glorious tradition, sacred art and a valiant history.
Like other students, I would not study or pray in a space that has light blue carpet. Fortunately the walls remain and can wait for a future restoration.
So many things wrong, I don't know where to begin.
Mr. Sonnen, you've posted "What's Wrong With This Picture?" entries before, but this is the saddest I've seen. The people responsible for this have no clue what a Catholic chapel is about, but they seem to be very familiar with the waiting rooms at doctor's offices.
Anonymous, re: "Stained basement carpet" comment-- let's pray those stains aren't from the Precious Blood being sloshed around.
Reminds me of a room in Ushaw College (when it was still an English seminary) where the then President of the college celebrated Mass for CAFOD. He said the complete Mass sitting at a coffee table - yes even the Consecration. And that was where they were training our future priests!!
Is that litter on the altar??

ReplyDeleteSaint Paul Uni. The Liturgy of the Word is about "Sharing" in a circle. Didn't you read Vatican II?
ReplyDeleteI can't even see the altar stone.
