Papal Mass in St. Peter's

  1. The raised pews on both sides of the altar of the Confession seem very impressive. They have disappeared in the early '70s along with so manyother things.
Nonetheless, during the old times, conditions seem to be quite crowded around the papal altar. Nowadays, it appears more airy and roomy. Back then, they were no serious security issues. And they went thru two world wars.

  2. Note where the attending prelates and clergy are seated. Today the area looks like an empty railway station during pontifical functions.

  3. I just wish they would get rid of that platform over the stairs down to the shrine. The church was not designed for it.

    1. That hedious platform over the Confessio needs to be removed, and the Throne of the Pope to return under the main apse.
