Pius XII Consecrated Bishop in Usus Antiquior by Benedict XV

Wish I could have been there.

A pope consecrates a future pope a bishop in the Sistine Chapel in 1917 during WWI.

Would be nice to see Latin rite bishops again consecrated in this rite.

  1. Who is the future Pope being consecrated? Pius XI?

  2. It's worthless the way they're consecrated today. And as impressive as staring at the wall.

  5. It is so wonderful to see the train from the choir cassock [falling to the bottom left from Benedict's alb] showing. Telling us of the nobility of the prelate!

  6. Pope Benedict XV (1854-1922) consecrated Eugenio Pacelli (1876-1958; seated) in a beautiful ceremony on April 23, 1917.

  8. Errr-actually the consecration took place on May 13, 1917.

The very day when Our Lady made her first appearance in Fatima, Portugal!

Nice picture, though-what a beautiful face that Pope Benedict XV has!
