Best Catholic Book on Abortion

To understand it all, a must read is the 1997 autobiography of the saintly Fr. Paul Marx, OSB: Faithful for Life.

Fr. Marx, a sociologist, was the founder of the international pro-life movement and was born in 1920, the 15th of 17 children. Two of the children became priests and two became nuns.

In the year 1963 he became involved in pro-life work after earning his doctorate in family sociology in Washington, D.C.

For 32 years Fr. Marx taught sociology at two universities and traveled to 91 countries to promote the pro-life cause.

He never gave up and passed away in 2010 at age 89.

The summer before his passing I had the pleasure to lunch with him twice. The first time I met Fr. Marx was at HLI's 1997 World Conference in Minneapolis when his new autobiography was unveiled. Over time he has proven to be a bit of a prophet. Time and again he hits the nail on the head.

Today the book is sadly out of print. Look for a copy on Amazon. I myself just purchased an autographed copy for $2.00 at a used book shop. It should be reprinted by the Liturgical Press of St. John's Abbey, where Fr. Paul made his solemn vows binding himself to the Abbey forever.

  1. This book is a prime example of what's wrong with the church. Jesus who sat down wtih tax collectors was 100% more accepting and loving than the cathoic church a and people like you who use christianity to foster hate.
