Rome Traditions: Laurel Leaves for Celebrations

A lovely scent. And even a reminder of the crown of martyrdom and palm branch of victory.

  1. Mr. Sonnen, is it also bay we see scattered on the floor of San Nicolo
    in Carcere in your photos posted on 9 April? I've never noticed this
    done before-- the scent must be lovely.

    Years ago I was in Rome and taking a walk in the gardens of the Villa
    Borghese. I caught the scent of bay and realized that there were
    entire hedges of it all around me. Nice.

  2. Yes, this photo was taken at S. Nicola. These might even be bay leaves. I was not exactly sure.
