Papal Rome: Where Pius IX Gave Last Rites and Holy Viaticum

Such a pastor Blessed Pius IX was! On March 28, 1851, while passing in his carriage through Campo de' Fiori he noticed a procession going by with the Blessed Eucharist, for a dying man. He followed and entered the flat at Via dei Giubbonari (street of the jacket makers), 64. There he administered the last rites to Vincnezo Cacace. Today you can enter from the street, go up the stairs, and the flat was on left. Today, the entrace to the flat is now sealed as seen in the above photo.
