Catholic Hero of Today: Philipp Von Boeselager (1917 - 2008)

On April 27, 2006 at the Lateran Univeristy yours truly had the honor to shake hands with this guy, to thank him and even to get his autograph.  It was a proud moment.

Philipp was a modern saint who was in Rome to deliver a lecture at a conference on Pius XII and to share his war experience.

During his speech in defence of the heroic virtues of the diplomat-pope, Pius XII, with great emotion he spoke of Nazi hatred not just for Judaism, but also for Catholicism.

Philipp shared that in 1945 he heard Burgdorf, who was head of Hitler's personal office as his aide-de-camp, say: "When the war is over, we will have to purge, after the Jews, the Catholic officers in the army."

You can read about Philipp here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philipp_von_Boeselager.

Above the entrance of his home were the Latin words: "Et Si Omnes Ego Non" (Even If All, Not I).

You can purchase his 2009 book here which is a great read:
