To celebrate the official opening of each new academic year Rome universities (usually sometime in November) have a little celebration with a lecture given by a VIP. This is Card. Nice, but not the same without the ferraiolone in readiness for an academic function (with biretta). Sometimes it takes a layman, but this is what the academic biretta is for, guys!
