Feast of St. Damasus in Rome

If you ever want to know where the action is in Rome, just look up the day in the Roman Martyrology.

Here is the entry for Dec. 11 in the Martyrology:

"At Rome, St. Damasus I, Pope and Confessor, who condemned the heresiarch Apollinaris and restored Peter, Bishop of Alexandria, when he was compelled to flee.  He also discovered many bodies of holy martyrs and adorned their tombs with verse inscriptions.  Also at Rome, the passion of St. Trason..."

His body is entombed inside the main altar of the Roman Basilica of San Lorenzo in Damaso and this photo was taken there today of one of his relics.
