Montreal: Tomb of Saint André Bessette

It was an honor to attend his canonization in the Vatican in 2010 and to pray at his tomb in Montreal. His place of burial is a special place - a votive chapel containing some 10,000 lights and votive candles.

Read of his holy life: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Bessette.

  1. Living in Montreal, I have been here many times...the St. Joseph's Oratory is a fascinating place. Nice blog.

  2. This is the first picture I've seen of Saint Andre's tomb since his canonization. Looks like nothing has changed here. I thought his relics would have been placed in a more visible tomb.

But this is fine-it fits him, a 'poor, humble servant of God', as the inscription says.

The sarcophagus was given by the premier of Quebec at the time of his death, Duplessis. He had attended Notre Dame College across the street, where Brother was the doorkeeper.
