Tomb of Cardinal Ottaviani in Vatican

  1. First, thank you for the posting about the magnificent, unforgettable Cardinal Ottaviani! If I may point out, while the tomb is certainly his, I believe that the monument is in honor of Francesco Cardinal Borgongini-Duca, buried nearby. They both had an apostolate for many years among the poor youth of Rome.

  4. I had the pleasure of visiting this tomb with John on our recent pilgrimmage to Rome. It is not easy to find! It is right next to where he worked though. Next to the grand palace of the Holy Office of the Universal Inquistion (aka CDF) there is a Vatican building given to the sisters of charity by John Paul II. They run a soup kitchen there. In there is a tiny chapel, which is where the tomb of the great cardinal. You have to ask permission from one of the sisters there to get access. Visit if you can and pray for him and that the church like him is "Semper Eadem"!
