John Paul II in Cappa Magna

Karol Cardinal Wojtyla in cappa magna at his titular church in Rome, San Cesareo in Palatio.

AD 1968.

  1. How could this be JPII in cappa magna? If he were still cardinal, his papal arms could not be displayed on the wall. He would not have yet been elected! On the other hand, if he had been elected and received arms, he would not be dressed as a cardinal

  2. With Polish members of the Roman Curia at that time. Mons. Agostino Casaroli kneeling, later one of the first cardinals created by John Paul II.

  3. This is not a papal coat of arms, but a watermark :)
