For any elderly man of importance such as a Pope I can not see the objection to the Sedia. It just seems practical as well as traditional. WHo would deny an elderly person a few moments off their feet. With heavy vestments and a great deal of walking as it is I would think people who love their Pope would support and in fact ask "Where is it !" Give him a break. I await the day that we will see it once in a while, at least for indoor ceremonies.
That is no true. A pope like Luciani would only speedup the crisis. Benedict XVI is intellectual and telegenic. Luciani was nothing of both. The church when lead by a new Luciani would shrink to a circle of aged sentimentalists.
Benedict XVI's succesor must be a man with the heart of JPI. Enough of these media and intellectual popes who have done so much harm to the church.
