60th Anniversary of the Death of Pius XII: SEXAGESIMUS ANNUS EXPLETUS A VENERABILIS PII PP. XII TRANSITU
60th anniversary of the death of Pope Pius XII, who died after a long agony on the 9th October 1958, at 3:52 am, in the Papal Villa of Castelgandolfo, at the age of 82.
He had reigned for almost twenty years, his pontificate having started in the most difficult times of the XXth Century. His death was lamented worldwide.
Among the condolence messages there were those of US President Eisenhower and of many Jewish leaders like Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Golda Meir and Italian Rabi Elio Toaff. American-Jewish conductor Leonard Bernstein asked for a minute of silence prior to a concert of the New York Philarmonic Orchestra in October 1958.
The Pastor Angelicus and Defensor Civitatis (his acclaimed titles) is currently considered as Venerable by the Roman Catholic Church despite the infamous campaign of hatred (initiated in 1963 following the performance of Rolf Hochhuth’s fictional drama “The Deputy” on stage in Berlin) to denigrate his holy memory.
Documents show that, far from having abandoned persecuted Jews to their fate during the Second World War, Pius XII’s alleged “silence” (= professional diplomacy) decisively contributed –directly or indirectly– to the salvation of about 850,000 European Jews (source: Israeli consul in Milan and Jewish author Pinchas Lapide).
Thanks, Rodolfo!
San Giovanni XXIII, san Paolo VI, san Giovanni Paolo II già canonizzati. Il venerabile Pio XII ed il venerabile Giovanni Paolo I attendono ancora. Preghiamo perchè presto possiamo vedere anche Loro sugli altari!
A remark in all friendship and no will to argue:
Canonizations belong to the infallible Magisterium of the Church as we see by the formula by which the pontiff declares that a blessed is saint:
« Ad honorem Sanctæ et Individuæ Trinitatis…, auctoritate Domini Nostri Iesu Christi, beatorum Apostolorum Petri et Pauli ac Nostra… Beatum N.N. Sanctum esse decernimus ac definimus, ac Sanctorum Catalogo adscribimus, statuentes eum in universa Ecclesia inter Sanctos pia devotione recoli debere ».
Thanks, Rodolfo!

Homosexualist Art Wins the Day at Santa Maria Maggiore
In 2016 these goofy doors were installed in St. Mary Major -- leading from the gift shop to the outdoor VIP parking, public restrooms and museum. Countless tourists and pilgrims walk by here every day. An employee complained to me about it. I, too, was mortified and did not know what to say. Who could find this attractive? A connoisseur of homo erotic art? The boy-toy image with engorged head and Adam's apple could not be any more obvious. And the New Age symbols? Does any parent think this is wholesome for their kids to look at? How embarrassing for any Catholic trying to keep their sense about them in this age of clerical sexual perversion and homosexual scandal and Vatican silence. Needless to say, this unnecessary addition replaced gorgeous antique doors that did not need to be replaced. Who is paying for this? Us? Vatican slush fund money? One more nice thing destroyed. The artist is "P. Patriarca." Someone should find out who he is and what he's into.
